REF: 1680
Rolex Submariner “Red” 1680 MKIV, from 1970 (Serial 2.79XXXX). An exceptional example of the iconic Red Submariner 1680 with MKIV dial. The case is superb, likely polished only once in the past, and remains thick with well-defined and symmetrical chamfers. The MKIV matte black dial is stunning, with no visible flaws. The tritium hour markers have developed a beautiful light orange patina, and the matching hands show light corrosion typical for a watch of this age. The original bezel insert is exceptional, showing no scratches and featuring the desirable thick font. The original crown is present, as is the folded Oyster bracelet dated 4.70 with 280 endlinks. The bracelet shows virtually no stretch. Serial and reference numbers between the lugs are crisp and deep, indicating minimal wear. The caseback is correctly stamped IV.70. The movement has just been serviced by our watchmaker and is running perfectly. A fantastic example of a 1970 MKIV Red Submariner — combining an exceptional case, flawless dial, and original components throughout. A true collector-grade vintage Rolex.
