This Tudor Submariner 7928 dates to 1963 (Serial 400XXX) and features the highly desirable early “pointed crown guards” case, a hallmark of the earliest Submariner references. The stainless steel case remains thick and well defined, having been polished in the past, and shows light wear consistent with age. The original matte black dial is in excellent condition, with beautifully aged lume plots. The hands appear to have been relumed at some point and are a good match. The newer bezel insert is also in excellent shape, showing only light surface wear. The watch is fitted with a riveted Oyster bracelet with 80 endlinks, which shows moderate stretch from age and use. The clasp is stamped 3.63. The serial and reference numbers between the lugs are crisp and fully legible, and the caseback is correctly stamped 7928 II.63. No known service history, but the movement has been tested and is running perfectly. A highly collectible early Tudor Submariner with strong vintage character and important transitional features.
