An outstanding and historically significant example of the Rolex Sea-Dweller 1665 COMEX, delivered in 1982 and belonging to the very last batch ever supplied to COMEX — this watch is among the final ten pieces, with diver engraving 229X on the caseback. The stainless-steel case remains thick, sharp, and honest, having been lightly polished in the past but retaining excellent proportions. The serial and reference numbers between the lugs are crisp and well defined (serial 6751XXX). The caseback is correctly stamped 1665 and engraved internally with the matching serial number, and externally with the diver number. The watch features its original MK2 COMEX dial (non–rail dial), entirely correct for these very late deliveries. The dial is in perfect condition, showing a beautiful and warm yellow patina on the indexes, with matching hands. The original “open 6” date disc is still present. The steel bezel and its graduated insert are both original; only the luminous pearlwas replaced with a later Luminova version. The watch is accompanied by a copy of the original Rolex letter confirming COMEX delivery to Marseille in 1982, strengthening its provenance and historical relevance. Later 93150 bracelet with 585 endlinks (claspcode N4), showing stretch consistent with professional diving use — entirely expected and characteristic of authentic COMEX tools. The original domed crystal shows light marks and small impacts, again reinforcing that the watch served its intended purpose. Powered by the Calibre 1570, freshly checked and running perfectly, this example combines condition, authenticity, and superb provenance. A truly exceptional and desirable COMEX 1665 — one of the final ones ever issued, with confirmed delivery, correct MK2 dial, diver engraving, and all the hallmarks of a genuine tool-used COMEX Sea-Dweller. A trophy-level piece for the serious collector.
