A superb early example of the iconic Audemars Piguet Royal Oak reference 5402ST, belonging to the highly sought-after A-Series and featuring an exceptionally rare 3-digit serial number, confirming production in 1972, the very first year of the model. This example features an outstanding original dial in perfect condition, showing a beautiful and even patina on the tritium hour markers. The hands are later service replacements. The case and bracelet have been recently polished and present extremely well, while the movement has been fully serviced by our watchmaker. The original integrated bracelet is in remarkable condition with very minimal stretch, a rare and highly desirable trait for a 5402 of this age. The clasp is correctly stamped 4.72, matching the production period. This watch retains all the early-generation details collectors look for, including the original unsigned crown (without the later AP logo) and the original date wheel with serif numerals.
