A highly attractive Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust, reference 17000, dating to circa 1978 and bearing serial number 5809XXX. Preserved in superb overall condition, this early example features the highly desirable MK1 silver tritium dial and is accompanied by an exceptionally rare set of period accessories. The stainless steel case has just been professionally polished by our watchmaker and is presented in outstanding condition. The watch retains its original integrated Oysterquartz bracelet, which shows virtually no stretch, while the clasp is correctly stamped GC. The beautiful original MK1 silver tritium dial is preserved in flawless condition. All luminous plots remain intact and have developed a rich orange patina, giving the watch tremendous vintage charm. The watch is fitted with Rolex service hands. A particularly appealing feature of this example is its remarkable provenance. It comes with its very rare original Oysterquartz presentation box, complete with the original "17000" reference sticker affixed to the exterior. Also preserved is the original Duty Free Shoppers price sticker, displaying the original retail price of USD 970, a fascinating period detail seldom encountered today. Completing the package are the rare original Oysterquartz hang tag and the green Rolex serial-number hang tag. The battery has been recently replaced, and the watch is in excellent working order. Combining a flawless MK1 silver dial with beautifully aged orange tritium, a tight original bracelet, and an exceptionally rare collection of original accessories, this Oysterquartz Datejust 17000 represents a superb collector's example of one of Rolex's most distinctive and historically significant quartz models.
