A distinctive and increasingly sought-after expression of Rolex’s late-20th-century innovation, the Oysterquartz Day-Date reference 19018 represents the brand’s bold foray into high-precision quartz technology, housed within the unmistakable Day-Date aesthetic in solid yellow gold. This example bears the serial number 9537XXX, corresponding to production in 1986, and was originally sold in the United Kingdom in September 1988. The case presents in excellent overall condition and has been recently polished, retaining strong proportions and an attractive presence, with a small nick visible on the case at approximately 5 o’clock. The fluted bezel has likewise been recently polished and remains crisp. The champagne dial is a service replacement, typical of the early 2000s, fitted with luminova despite being signed “T Swiss Made T”—a known characteristic of later Rolex service dials of this period. The dial is in very good condition and offers a clean, well-balanced appearance. The serial and reference numbers engraved on the caseback are slightly softened from polishing but remain legible under magnification. The original yellow-gold bracelet shows light stretch consistent with age, though nothing excessive, and comfortably fits a wrist of up to approximately 18.5 cm. The Oysterquartz movement has been checked and is functioning perfectly at the time of cataloguing. Accompanied by its original papers, this Oysterquartz Day-Date is an attractive and honest example of a historically important Rolex reference, combining technical significance with the enduring prestige of the Day-Date line.
