A very attractive early yellow gold GMT-Master, reference 16758, fitted with the sought-after black “nipple” dial. The case was polished long ago and has since developed attractive oxidation, now showing only light scratches from use with no major dings or damage. The glossy black dial is in excellent condition, with the lacquer naturally shifting slightly towards matte as is often seen on 1980s examples. The original tritium lume plots are all present and well preserved, perfectly matched by the original hands; the tritium in the hour and seconds hands shows some minor crackling under magnification. The original bezel insert presents visible scratches to the naked eye but remains attractive and correct for the period. Fitted with its original yellow gold Jubilee bracelet with 47 endlinks, showing normal stretch for its age, claspcode E. The engravings are clean and well preserved. The watch has no recorded service history, but the movement has been tested by our watchmaker and shows an amplitude of 280° and a gain of +1 second per day, running perfectly. A superb and honest example of the vintage GMT-Master 16758 with black nipple dial, combining originality, character, and excellent overall performance.
