A beautiful example of the Rolex Explorer I reference 14270, featuring the rare transitional “Swiss Only” luminova dial, produced for a very short period in the late 1990s. Originally sold in 1999, this watch no longer retains its original box and papers but was officially sold by Bucherer as a Certified Pre-Owned (CPO) piece in 2021. It therefore comes with the Bucherer leather presentation box and Bucherer CPO international warranty card. The stainless steel case has been polished in the past and remains in perfect condition, with crisp lines and minimal wear. The black “Swiss Only” dial and matching luminova hands are flawless, displaying strong contrast and perfect printing. The original Oyster bracelet reference 78790 with 558B endlinks is in excellent condition, showing minimal stretch, claspcode X11. The automatic movement has been fully checked by our watchmaker and is running perfectly. A superb example of the transitional Explorer 14270 “Swiss Only,” combining perfect aesthetics, originality, and recent Bucherer CPO provenance — one of the most collectible configurations of the late 1990s Explorer I.
