REF: 14270
This 1998 Rolex Explorer I 14270 is a superb example of a late transitional model, featuring what collectors refer to as a “tritinova” dial. These rare dials are marked “Swiss – T < 25” like earlier tritium versions, but were factory-filled with Luminova instead—during a short period when Rolex was transitioning away from tritium due to updated radiation regulations. The result is a unique and collectible dial configuration found only on a small number of late 14270s. The case has just returned from a professional polish and remains in excellent condition. The original black dial is clean and well-preserved, with matching Luminova hands. The watch is fitted with its original 78790 Oyster bracelet with 558B endlinks, showing extremely light stretch from use. Claspcode is U8. The movement has just been serviced by our watchmaker and is running perfectly. Sold as a complete full set from 1998. A sharp and increasingly sought-after Explorer I with an uncommon dial variant that marks an important moment in Rolex production history.
