An icon among vintage chronographs, the Rolex Daytona 6263/8 in yellow gold blends sportiness with elegance in one of the most sought-after configurations of the manual-wind era. This example, dating from 1979, offers a compelling mix of originality, condition, and documented service.

The 18k yellow gold case remains sharp and well-defined, with signs of past polishing and light wear consistent with careful use. The original black bakelite bezel is remarkably well preserved, retaining strong definition and gloss for its age. The dial is a later Rolex service replacement, featuring a clean black Luminova configuration that contrasts beautifully with the gold sub-dials; the hands are matching and correct.

The watch is fitted with its original riveted Oyster bracelet (ref. 7205/8 with D clasp code), which shows only light stretch from use—a rare and desirable feature on gold models of this era. Between the lugs, both serial and reference numbers are crisp and fully legible, and the caseback is properly stamped 6263. The Valjoux 727 movement is correctly engraved with a COSC number, in line with Rolex's chronometer-grade specifications.

This example comes with its original Rolex box and a 2018 service invoice from Rolex France, attesting to its mechanical integrity. A superb vintage Daytona with great presence and collectibility—ready for a discerning collector.
