An attractive example of the highly sought-after Rolex Daytona Ref. 6241 Paul Newman, dating from circa 1967 and bearing serial number 1.76XXXX. The watch retains its original black Paul Newman dial, preserved in excellent condition with only very light signs of wear. The luminous plots remain in place and are largely intact, with only a very small amount of material missing from the plot at 3 o’clock, a condition often encountered on watches of this period. The original hands remain perfectly matching. The case is strong and sharp, showing only light wear from use, with crisp and well-defined serial and reference numbers between the lugs. The MK3 black Bakelite bezel remains in good overall condition, with a noticeable impact mark between 9 and 10 o’clock. The watch is powered by the manually wound Rolex calibre 722-1, which is in very good working order. The caseback is stamped 6239. It is fitted with a riveted Oyster bracelet with 71 end links and a clasp stamped 1.65. The bracelet shows only light stretch considering its age. A compelling vintage Daytona retaining its original Paul Newman dial, Bakelite bezel and period-correct riveted bracelet.
