The present Rolex Cosmograph Daytona reference 16520, dating to 1990, is an exceptional early example of the celebrated Zenith-powered generation, offered as a complete full set and preserved in outstanding overall condition. Originally sold in Italy in 1990, this watch combines early-production characteristics, desirable dial configuration, and documented factory servicing. This example was fully serviced and polished by Rolex in 2018 and is accompanied by its Rolex service card, confirming the intervention. Since that service, the watch has reportedly remained unworn, and it still retains service stickers, underscoring its excellent preservation. The watch features a rare and highly sought-after “4 lines” white tritium dial, a configuration prized by collectors for its early production status and balanced typography. The dial is preserved in excellent condition, and the original tritium hands match perfectly, creating a harmonious and fully period-correct appearance. The original steel bezel engraved with “225” is present and remains in superb condition, consistent with the overall quality of the watch. The case, professionally refinished by Rolex during the 2018 service, remains sharp and well defined, with strong proportions and crisp edges. It is fitted with its original Oyster bracelet reference 78360 with 503 endlinks, preserved in excellent condition and showing extremely light stretch. The clasp bears the code O11, consistent with the period. Inside beats the automatic Rolex calibre 4030, based on the legendary Zenith El Primero chronograph movement, extensively modified by Rolex to meet its own stringent standards of precision and reliability. Combining early “4 lines” dial rarity, full-set completeness, documented Rolex service, and exceptional condition throughout, this Daytona 16520 represents a particularly compelling opportunity to acquire a highly collectible and investment-grade example of one of the most important automatic Daytonas ever produced.
