A beautiful example of the Rolex Datejust reference 1601/8 in 18k yellow gold, dating from circa 1973 (3.5XXXXX) and featuring the timeless combination of a champagne dial and fluted gold bezel. The 36mm case has been polished in the past but remains thick and well preserved, showing only light wear from use, with no significant dents or deep scratches. The champagne dial is in excellent overall condition, featuring applied gold baton hour markers and the classic date display beneath the Cyclops lens. The original hands show some minor signs of age, while the acrylic crystal is beautifully preserved. The watch is fitted with a black Rolex leather strap showing virtually no signs of use and a gold-tone Rolex tang buckle. Inside is the renowned Rolex calibre 1570 automatic movement, which underwent a full overhaul by Rolex in January 2026. The watch is accompanied by Rolex service card and invoice. A particularly elegant and well-maintained example of the solid gold vintage Datejust, combining beautiful 1970s proportions, a classic champagne dial and the reassurance of a recent official Rolex service.
