A beautiful early example of the Rolex Oysterquartz Datejust reference 17000 MK1, dating from 1977, with a serial number in the 523XXX. The 36 mm stainless steel case and integrated Oysterquartz bracelet have been polished in the past and present in good overall condition. The original MK1 Oysterquartz dial has developed an attractive creamy patina over time, complemented by matching tritium hands showing consistent ageing. Most of the original tritium hour plots remain intact, with those at 9, 10 and 11 o’clock missing. The integrated bracelet shows some stretch, consistent with its age, and features a clasp stamped PJ8. The watch is accompanied by two official Rolex invoices documenting battery replacements in 2022 and 2025. An attractive early Oysterquartz Datejust, combining the desirable MK1 dial, appealing vintage patina and documented Rolex maintenance.
